15.Weidaer Dreieck
Historische Straßenrennen sind stets etwas ganz besonderes, denn es ist eine Art Zeitreise, die man an diesen Wochenenden antritt. Der Geruch von Rennbenzin in der Luft, das laute hämmern der Motoren von Vorkriegs- oder das Schreien der 500ccm Grand Prix-Motorräder erzeugt immer wieder aufs neue einen Gänsehautmoment.
So auch in diesem Jahr beim 15. Weidaer Dreieck. Auf dieser 4,4km langen Naturstrecke, auch bekannt als "Isle of Mautitz", starteten in diesem Jahr, trotz Covid-19, mehr als 200 historischer Rennmotorräder!
Historic road races are always something very special, because it is a kind of time travel that you take on these weekends. The smell of racing gasoline in the air, the loud hammering of the engines of pre-war motorcycles or the screaming of the 500ccm Grand Prix motorcycles creates goosebumps over and over again.
This is also the case this year at the 15th Weidaer Dreieck. This year, despite Covid-19, more than 200 historic racing motorcycles started on this 4.4 km long natural track, also known as the "Isle of Mautitz"!
Das gesamte Starterfeld teilte sich in verschiedene Hubraum- und Baujahrklassen auf und starteten zu zahlreichen Läufen über das Wochenende verteilt. Highlight war neben den Grand Prix Maschinen wie Benelli, Honda & Norton der Sonderlauf "70 Jahre Awo".
Dort starteten, wie in den 60er und 70er Jahren im Osten, die Awo Rennmotorräder der privaten Fahrer.
The entire starting field was divided into different cubic capacity and year of construction classes and started numerous races over the weekend. In addition to the Grand Prix machines such as Benelli, Honda & Norton, the highlight was the special run "70 years of Awo".
As in Riesa in the 1960s and 1970s, the Awo racing motorcycles for private drivers started there.
Über das ganze Wochenende verteilt übertraf ein Highlight das andere, von atemberaubenden Kaltstartgeräuschen am Morgen bis hin zum spannenden Regenszenen am Sonntag war alles dabei.
Die "Isle of Mautitz" vermittelt dabei ein einzigartiges Flair, das es so selten bei Motorsportveranstaltungen gibt. Überall sind begeisterte Zuschauer und glückliche Rennfahrer zu finden, in jedem Lauf der Demonstrationsrennen gibt es immer wieder neues zu entdecken und zu erleben. Das Weidaer Dreieck ist eines der wenigen Veranstaltungen, welche noch den Zeitgeist des damaligen Motorsports vermittelt.
Wer sich für historischen Motorsport interessiert sollte sich diese Veranstaltung in den kommenden Jahren nicht entgehen lassen!

Over the whole weekend, one highlight surpassed the other, from the breathtaking cold start noises in the morning to the exciting rainy scenes on Sunday - everything was there.
The "Isle of Mautitz" conveys a unique flair that is so rare at motorsport events. Enthusiastic spectators and happy racing drivers can be found everywhere, and there is always something new to discover and experience in every run of the demonstration races. The Weidaer Dreieck is one of the few events that still conveys the spirit of motorsport at the time.
Anyone interested in historical motorsport should not miss this event in the coming years!
